Pokémon X and Y achieved remarkable commercial success. During their first weekend on sale, the games sold more than four million copies[14][15]. In the fiscal year of their release, they reached a total of 12.26 million units sold[16]. As of March 31, 2023, the global sales of Pokémon X and Y have reached an impressive 16.68 million copies, establishing them as the best-selling Pokémon games on the Nintendo 3DS platform[17].

Japanese Sales

In the Japanese market, Pokémon X and Y made a significant impact. During their first week of release, the games sold a combined total of 1,866,570 units. Pokémon X accounted for 961,003 copies, while Pokémon Y sold 905,567 copies. The sell-through rates were 83.30% for Pokémon X and 78.23% for Pokémon Y[18]. By January 3, 2021, which marked the end of their 378th week, Pokémon X and Y had achieved cumulative sales of 4,247,847 copies in Japan. Pokémon X accounted for 2,245,721 copies, while Pokémon Y reached 2,002,126 copies sold[19].
