Dragonsweeper is a clever indie puzzle game developed by Daniel Benmergui, reimagining the classic Minesweeper formula as a roguelike dungeon exploration game. Released in early 2025, browser-based HTML5 title, it quickly became a phenomenon among puzzle enthusiasts thanks to its combination of logical reasoning with light RPG gameplay and a fantasy style.
Dragonsweeper retains the core reasoning of Minesweeper while adding meaningful consequences and rewards. The numbers on the grid represent the total "power level" (total monster level) in the eight surrounding tiles, requiring you to use logical reasoning to determine safe and dangerous locations.
Clicking on a monster will deal damage equal to its level and grant a corresponding amount of gold/experience. Leveling up will fully restore your HP and increase your maximum HP, allowing you to tackle stronger enemies. You can drop to 0 HP but cannot go lower – this makes resource management extremely important.
Combat is integrated directly into the grid:
Unlike traditional RPGs, battles are fast-paced and tied to your puzzle-solving decisions.
