Chinchon Online Rules

The game revolves around players getting rid of their cards by creating runs or discarding cards of the same value. Only sets of 3 or more cards can be combined, and players are allowed to hold a maximum of one card in their hand with a value not exceeding 3 points. The winner is determined based on the combinations formed.

Cards in Chinchon

Chinchon employs a traditional Spanish deck consisting of 40 cards.

The order of the cards is as follows:

1-2-3-4-5-6-7-Sota-Caballo-Rey (Ace-2-3-4-5-6-7-Knight-King)

Card Values

In Chinchon , the Sota (Jack), Caballo (Knight), and Rey (King) carry a value of 10 points each. The As (Ace) is worth 1 point. The remaining cards (numbers) maintain their face value. The game also includes a wild card, the Comodín, represented by the Ace of Oros (Gold). When unused in a combination, it holds a value of 25 points.

Combinations in Chinchon

Matching cards: Sets of 3 or 4 cards with the same value. For example, 3 Caballos (3 Knights). Runs: Sequential groups of cards from the same suit. For instance, a run of 2-3-4 of bastos (clubs). "Chinchon" refers to achieving a run of 7 cards from the same suit.

Dealing

The first dealer is randomly chosen. The subsequent dealer is the player seated to the right of the previous dealer. The game progresses in a counterclockwise direction. Each player is initially dealt 7 cards. The remaining cards form the draw pile. The top card of the draw pile is turned face up to initiate the discard pile.

Choosing a Card

The game commences with the player to the right of the dealer choosing a card either from the draw pile or from the top of the discard pile.

Discarding

After drawing a card, the player must discard one card from their hand, placing it face up on the discard pile. If the player chooses not to use this card, they can discard it during the same turn.

The Joker

If the option to use the Joker (Ace of Oros) is enabled:

When adding a card to a set, players have several options:

Adding the Joker to a set of matching cards.
Including the Joker in a run.
If the Joker is not at either end of a sequence, players can add a card that corresponds to one of the ends.
If the Joker is at one end of a combination, the appropriate card can be placed to extend and link the sequence from that end.
For example, if we have (Joker)-5-6-7, we can add the 3 of the same suit. The result would be 3-(Joker)-5-6-7.
The Joker can also replace a natural card in a combination.

Closing the Game

After a player reveals their plays and closes their hand, no further selection or discard turns occur.

If a player closes with 6 cards, the other players can still extend their own combinations in subsequent turns, following these rules:

After each closure, if players have remaining cards in their hands, they can add them to their combinations whenever possible.
There is no limit to the number of cards a player can add.
When a player closes with a combination of 7 cards (including Chinchon with the Joker), the other players can only lay down their own combinations; they cannot discard into combinations made by other players.
In the case of a player closing with a run of 7 cards (clean Chinchon) without the Joker, that player wins the game directly, and the game ends immediately.

Scoring

To conclude a round, all players must complete at least one turn by discarding a card. When combining 6 cards, the value of the remaining card must be 3 or lower. Discarding 7 cards can occur when players have them arranged in two combinations or in a run (Chinchon). Once a round concludes, no more turns are played. Scores for the round are calculated individually for each player, based on the discarded cards and the cards remaining in their hands.

The player who closes their hand receives points as follows:

Closing with 6 cards: The value of the remaining card must not exceed 3 points. Revealing 7 cards in two combinations: -10 points. Obtaining 7 cards in a single discard (Chinchon) using the Joker: -25 points. Chinchon without using the Joker: This player wins the game outright, regardless of the current scores.

The remaining players earn points as follows:

In general, players score the sum of the values of the cards remaining in their hands (those that have not been combined or linked). If the Joker option is enabled and a player still holds the Joker in their hand, they earn an additional 25 points.

When a clean Chinchon is not announced, the round continues until one of the players reaches the predetermined positive score. If this occurs, the player with the lowest score at that moment becomes the winner of the game.

In the event that two or more players have the same lowest score, the winner is determined by the most recent closure.
